In the past she had searched the taverns in town, looking for his Jeep Cherokee, sometimes hidden behind bushes and shrubs, trying to locate him when business calls needed returning. She often joked that he must think her obtuse, because most of the time, it was easy to spot the car in a town that only has six main streets and a railroad crossing in the center of it. He was strong, of average height, but his build was that of a construction worker, every muscle detailing his strength, and baby blue eyes that could see right through her and always know what she was thinking. She had never loved anyone else, even in her younger years, except for a crush on Eric W., who won her first kiss in "spin the bottle", when she was only 12. She never knew what Dave saw in her and over the years, she would ask him, trying to see herself as someone else would. Maybe that was her insecurity, because she had captured the attention and love of the lifeguard, one that many others had attempted and had failed. It was stranger still when she had first been introduced to him by her best friend Linda, the girl with coal black hair past her waist. And the shyness was obvious, but he took her hand in his and the warmth that flowed made her blush. She remembered him from a time before, when over a friend's house in her neighborhood. He was the sister's boyfriend's best friend. He didn't notice her, but she wondered to herself who he was, watching his every move until it was time for her to go home. Two years would go by before their introduction. And she never knew, that this would be the boy, who would become the man she would love and marry in the future.
