Trust Me By Larry Chadwick We do it nearly every day. It seems we can’t live without the weather report. Never mind that the poor weatherman’s accuracy is only thirty percent. Still we hang on his every word about tomorrow’s weather and his five day forecast. Everyday we make decisions about who we trust. We have learned to trust the clergy. But now we question if our confidence was misplaced. Do we dare let them work with our children any more? Should we believe what they say in spite of what some of them do? When we visit our Doctor we have made a selection based on our willingness to trust. And we hope that we have made a right choice. But have we? Will we wake up from that surgery? Will we be whole when the operation is over? Did they find all of the cancer? Consequently we get second opinions. And still…we wonder. The selection of a spouse is the ultimate test of our willingness to trust. Is the one we love really who they say they are? Have they accurately represented themselves? Or will traits appear after the marriage ceremony that cause us to doubt our decision to trust them? The divorce rate implicates a failure in our ability to trust the right people. Politicians. Bill Clinton… Well, little else needs to be said. No wonder we have chosen to become so self reliant. No wonder there are such significant issues of trust growing generation after generation. After all, who can we trust? And by the way, Jesus did say he was coming again. December 14, 2002 If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

I've always taken my own self-reliance pointed out by people as a compliment. Fear unfortunately is probably one of the most powerful motives behind decision making. Nice piece. It's a thinker. By the way, if you see him tell him I said hi. Life is where you look for it. |

Larry~ I enjoyed reading this. Lots of points to ponder, and you've asked some excellent questions as well. A definite thinker and I like that. Hugs, ~Vicky "...until you have read the verse on his heart, |

lol@classified... mine isn't either, it's just encrypted and no one knows how to decipher it! this is interesting Larry and one has to wonder how much you can call what we are self-reliance. the weather? yeah, well i most definitely agree with you there. but the rest of it - i think most people opt to play the odds that they will wake up, that the senator will do a decent job. nothing wrong with being as self-dependent as possible though... makes you more prepared when the next comet hits the earth! |

Christopher, My issue behind this is our willingness to believe in people who actually aren't all that reliable and yet lack faith in those who are. And thanks for the read and response Chris. Merry Christmas. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |
