What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

(Romeo & Juliet Act II Scene II - Capulet's orchard)

For ten months, the official name has been Passions in Poetry. For ten months, I've often shortened that to simply Passions. In recent days, I've noticed a new moniker repeatedly surfacing: PiP.

Now, personally, I think this issue is far more important, with far greater ramifications, than which way we roll our TP. I'm calling for an official vote: What is to be the nickname of Passions in Poetry?

Passions...9 (multiple smiles don't count extra )
PiP........0 (Where's all the PiPers???)
Other......0

Addendum - Related question #1:

If we had a little animated mascot named PiP, would PiP be male or female? What would PiP look like?

Passions is the better choice as we are not just about poetry.....Passions....all kinds.. is the aim here....a passion to write.. a passion to learn...a passion to meet people with like interests.....a passion to be the best we can be...this is passions....

Passions get's my vote, because of the representation, but JP, if someone tells you how to save the strokes, let me know! (Bigger-better-stronger-faster don't you know!)

JP, if you can give me an adequate explaination of how Passions resolves to 5 keystrokes, I'll tell you how to do the macro...

I admit, I may have been the culprit [mea culpa] in shortening Passions In Poetry to "PiP". Ooops.

While I think that this place is one heck of a "PiP" to be, I will go along in the majority, because I really don't want to end up being barred or [heavens] blackballed by anyone here. [Not saying that this would happen, but you never know.]

There will be no fence-sitting, Sunshine!

There's nothing wrong with PiP, and you certainly weren't the only one to use it - we just gotta set the record straight, that's all. Hey, maybe we should get a mascot - named Pip!!!!

At any rate, your vote doesn't count, Sunshine, until you stop equivocating... Which is it????

Well heck, Ron, if we can get PiP as a mascot, then of course, Passions! It's really easy for me to get off the fence when you hand me a no-brainer.

One question? Who's volunteering to be PiP?
LOL! Thanks!

I think PiP should be a little worm (don't make him green, make him blue), wearing glasses holding a pen or quill.....bookworm type of thing....(No sheep, no moose! I know Toerag and Balladeer will choose those...)

I vote for:

Passions

because that to me talks of caring for others, writing from the heart or indeed of writing on any subject that makes you PASSIONate..

Hope i'm not to late to post my own two cents.
I say the name should stay as Passions, Because poetry has many passions. And the word PiP just doesn't express that emotion.

Justin Kace you people don't have a clue...

This is the 'STUTE... It's Chaos Manor, and you're all Justin Mates...

You're all here, and you're not getting out
It's Justin Credible that none of you believes that. I hope I got here Justin Thyme to convince you...

In case you didn't notice - Ron has already moved the others to a minimum security facility on another site. If you're reading this, you're one of the ones he's left behind.

I, however, have devised an escape - for I'm Justin Sayne... Now what IS that new URL?

Meatloaf anyone????

First, let me forumally apologize for my cousin, Justin. He's Justin Sayne. He has no idea where he really is. Nor does he know where YOU are. The important question is, do YOU know where you are? And another important question is, do you know WHO you are?

There's been a lot of rumors around here lately. About fictional vs. real people. Do you know which one you are? For example... is "iloveit" a fictional person or a real person? How 'bout "toerag"? Is he fictional or real and does he know the difference?

Bottom line is, we're posting messages forumally on this message board that's run by a person who calls himself RON. Now, that's a "real" name, but how do we know he's a REAL person? He could be just a figment of yours and mine imagination.

Now, let me explain my cousin, Justin Sayne. He IS Justin Sayne and he is here with me at the 'stute along with some others. My twin brother, Justin Kace you didn't know. And Dr. Moose and Nurse Cratchet, they're here too. Along with some painter friends of mine who's names rhyme with "Van Gogh" and "Pablo". Justin Kace is a painter by the name of "Michelangelo", and I am called "Leonardo". Toerag has recently joined us and is painting under the name of "Rockwell" but he hasn't told the administration that yet so we're a little worried about whether he'll be able to avoid lobotomy. It's hard in here. It really is. You don't have to believe me. Some people have been calling me a "fictional" person, but I think I know the difference. If I were fictional, I'd never be able to type this, would I?

Alrighty then, let's get back to the point. The point is, this is PASSIONS. I like that name. And if my vote counts, I'm voting for it. This entire place is not the 'stute, as my Justin Sayne cousin seems to think. Only some of us are there. And believe me, we are ALL quite real.

Whew! Well, off my soapbox. Just one last thing. If you don't know if you are real or fictional, don't be running around calling other people fictional, ok? We 'stute people have feelings too.

Thank you for letting me post this at PASSIONS!!!! This is NOT "PiP" ... that's a dumb name.

That's all.

hmmm well if they moved us all to a minimium security facillity, then they never moved me over. so I'll just have to call this place GOETHE's place, in recognition of me, GOETHE.

hmmm and enough with that charles dickens bookworm thingie. he'll eat my irreplacible manuscripts! *fervently looks for bug spray*

no sense using a book to flatten it with, it'll just eat through it... anyone got any money?
