In the space between moments

Okay, this may sound completely absurd, but I am kind of confused on the verse that Tim wrote. I see a few possible intrepretations, but I want to be sure before I continue. So, anyone who could answer for me, please do! I want to get it rolling so more people can write! Thanx a bunch! The verse is--

What questions lurked, behind clown's paint?
Caused one to gasp, and then to faint
When first she learned, had come to town,
Out of her past, insidious clown.
So long ago, she'd felt the harm,
Sweet Mary Ann, Orleans school marm.
On basement shelf, red bulbous nose,
How long she'd kept, she only knows.
When just sixteen, had run away,
Sweet Mary Ann, what would they say?

You're right, there are a number of different ways to interpret the verse. The great thing about the Community Poem forum is that you get to interpret it any way you want - and then build on your own interpretation! There is no right or wrong way, only the direction you decide to take the group...

Hey Alwye - The whole purpose of the Community Poem is for you to take your own verse where ever you choose - but I personally would interpret Tim's part to mean that this girl had met the clown when the circus had been in town many years previously - and that they have a dark history together - What might that history be? That remains to be written - What do you think???

that was what I was trying to do; hopefully interject another character and allow the following poets to establish whatever they desired as the storyline. I have never done anything like this before, but assumed that was part of the fun of the whole exercise to allow anyone to branch off anywhere they wanted to go... I was trying to establish the branch.
