Hello, I am trying to trace a poem that my mother remember from childhood. I have very few details about it, and infact I'm not even sure the author is well known ! I suspect you will either immediately know the peom I'm talking about or think I'm an absolute loon for assuming this is enough information - but here goes... The information I have (such that it is !): - the title is something like 'The little scottish soldiers' - the poem begins with two children (a boy and a girl) by a brook - the little girl puts her foot in and that's were the first line comes from - which is something like 'Oh but it it cold and it is deep' - soldiers come by looking for Bonny Prince Charles - the children point and send them off in a direction - the soldiers come back a kill the children for sending them in the wrong direction. Not a nice tale, but one my mother assures me moved her to tears, even as a somewhat unwilling elocution student ! The information I'm after: The author, obviously. Also the details of any books you have in stock which contain the above mentioned poem. Regards, a very hopeful Vron |

Thanks Ladycat ! Sorry the information I have is so pathetic ! I spoke to my mother about it again and she suspects it may also be called 'Scottish Martyrs' or something similiar. I won't be all that shocked if no information turns up but I really appreciate the effort ! Thanks again, Veronica |
