This is a Shakespearean sonnet, to be precise. The lines are written in iambic pentameter (five iambic feet - each following an unstressed/STRESSED format). There are other rhyme schemes which comprise Petrarchan/Italian and Spenserian sonnets as well - But the one you outline here is classic Shakespeare.. |

i will add the poem it might help understand it too. "The Beast" I am a beast in which you do not play, my claws; the razor blades of pain and death. if I come to your house you'll run away and if you don't it will be your last breath. To be the only man to see the beast, it had a price I lost my wife and son. if you will listen please go to the east and if you stay you Know your life is done. I am immortal I protect all men. I thought I killed the last of "Razor Claw", I Tracked him many days to find his den. I killed the beast the night of gloom: you saw. You come to me you have a prize; a wife. I must decline your prize for I have life. |
