white skin walks through the park like she walks through her care-free bubble gum the sugar sweet emptiness she calls her life with a bouncing stride she tosses her bubble gum wrapper to the trash basket. shooting...she misses and keeps on care-free brand bouncing along with her high, high in the sky designer platform shoes. brown skin bends his tired self to the ground and picks up her wrapper. slowly rising up he places her trash in the basket, grabs the **** coveredrubbish bin and empties it into his cold, grey garbage truck. he stops for a moment, and he wonders... wonders why she was handed the bubble gum and he only got the wrapper. I really like this, you write it very well, and it is a good angle on an old subject. It seems as if you are applying it to race relations, but I can see that too that it has alot to do with class status which all races have to deal with and also an attitude that that the so called upper crust sometimes have. I like this so much that I am going to print it out and keep it. I have got to say this shows alot of talent in the poetry Dept. Please keep them coming. |

i think that this is great, really great. i like the comparision, as the girl is seen as empty with a nice little life, and the man, stooping, dirty, picking up trash. the last line is priceless thanks for the interesting read. |
