Babylon searched the desert for years the bleached pelvic bone of the earth for the place they would meet their powerless God To harvest an eternal birth Brick by Brick glazed clay transforms a flat tower into a long one the shriveled sands they live in becoming a miracle, molding into a creation It stretched beyond natural form To a mysterious universe they could not own, fringed by a layer of cloud parted in ridiculous error where half-men raced up endless staircases each carrying a knife to detatch a piece of seamless cloak and sew it into their own fabric completing a patchwork quilt they could hide under Those who could see His face began Spewing from the tower with outraged eye open and found they had no voice to repel what they saw praying to each other and grasping, at their bricks the construction that had begun with the fathers, of their fathers, and their fathers before, who had dreams that made them warm during the night [This message has been edited by TimA (edited 11-17-1999).] |

A vivid description of the Tower of Babel. A story that is so relevant to our time. |
