Herbert and Hugley by Kirk T Walker Herbert the helminthes* hid hulking near his hole. He had horrendous hearing, so he heard no one at all when Hugley the heavy hippo happened upon his home. Herbert hid not from Hugley. He just happened to not hear, and Hugley had expected Herbert home, so he thought it queer when his happy helloing reached not Herbert's ear. Hugley hopped over Herbert's hedges as easily as an antelope. To hunt for him--to find him was his hope. Instead he stepped upon the worm, squished him, and said D'uop!? * helminthes = worm [This message has been edited by Kirk T Walker (edited 04-09-2001).] |

This poem is an experiment with alliteration and also an attempt to write something that could be enjoyed by my younger cousins and siblings as well as adults. [This message has been edited by Kirk T Walker (edited 04-23-2001).] |
