Shattered pieces like windowglass Still held together by edges Tenuous appearing spider strands A single breath could part them Inside a frenzied molten rock The pressure cooker running One more ingredient to the pot And lava flows unending Laughter that borders lunacy Undertones of madness Tears the lurk at the surface Slip down cheeks without sound No ease, no rest though weary In this manic state Clear thought out of the question Images roll like a kaleidoscope Lost, oh lost, whispers the mind As the last illusion shatters And naught remains anywhere Save only one, faithful despair. Pepper "A poem is the very image of life expressed in its eternal truth." Percy Bysshe Shelley |
