Two friends of mine and I were discussing this subject and wondering why. This is a toungue-in-cheek piece, and not in my usual style. Men stare at some, ignoring others, A personal choice, I would suppose, Objects of such curious fascination, Do they wonder why it's so? Just what is it that holds their gaze, Magnetic, draws their touch, Though in composition quite distasteful, They still love them oh, so much. Each one unique in it's own way, In shape, or color, or size, The origins so nurturing, yet, They've long been eroticized. In the few remaining tribes, Where you see them always exposed, There is no special interest shown, A hint, do you suppose? thought-provoking piece of work...yes, what makes a person attractive to others so much so that they want to stare at him and admire?? i like the last stanza about no one showing interest in tribes.i thought that was an interesting issue to add upon your poem. though in composition quite distasteful, they still love them oh ,so much.. i don't understand these lines.can u expain them to me??thanks") ![]() |

Kris: This is about cars, right? ![]() "Men stare at some, ignoring others, A personal choice, I would suppose, Objects of such curious fascination, Do they wonder why it's so?" No, we just accept it. ![]() "Just what is it that holds their gaze, Magnetic, draws their touch, Though in composition quite distasteful, They still love them oh, so much." We don't care and yes we do. "Each one unique in it's own way, In shape, or color, or size, The origins so nurturing, yet, They've long been eroticized." I can understand cars being unique in shape, color and size but I don't know if I would describe Duryea's invention or Ford's assembly line as "nurturing". ![]() "In the few remaining tribes, Where you see them always exposed, There is no special interest shown, A hint, do you suppose?" Perhaps the cars in these tribes are not a well taken care of and, therefore, don't draw the eye like other cars. Perhaps if these tribes would discover body shops they would rediscover that deep down, male appreciation of cars. Maybe, exposed to sunlight the way they are, these cars become dulled and dried, maybe even begin to show signs of cracking. Maybe most of the cars are older and are too big or give off offensive odors when you take them for a spin. LOL. Thanks for the read Kris. I can sure appreciate those cars. ![]() Jim |

lol to the poem Kris .. not your usual style maybe but fun all the same ... LOL even more though to Jim's reply .. early mornings obviously bring out the comedian in you mi laddo .. and I tell ya something, there are Local Govt. offices in the UK where there is not a shadow of a doubt that all the guys would have thought this was about either cars, football or beer .....lol Meanwhile just a few titbits (yuck sorry): Men stare at some, ignoring others, A personal choice, I would suppose, >>> Guess it rather depends on the respective heights of the persons involved ie your points of view ..lol .. there's such a thing as "in yer face" y'know ![]() Objects of such curious fascination, Do they wonder why it's so? >>> As Diana Ross says "Ain't no mountain high enough ain't no valley low enough" Just what is it that holds their gaze, >>> C'mon c'mon Kris ... ~disingenuous smile~ Magnetic, draws their touch, Though in composition quite distasteful, >>> taste nice actually They still love them oh, so much. >>> sweet orbs of comfort and desire ![]() Each one unique in it's own way, In shape, or color, or size, >>> yeah must be a nightmare for the Gossard ![]() The origins so nurturing, yet, >>> and therein lies the answer and the first food ..... They've long been eroticized. >>> yes incredible what photo touch up and a couple of ice cubes can do ![]() In the few remaining tribes, Where you see them always exposed, There is no special interest shown, A hint, do you suppose? >>> actually Kris I think it's more a reflection of the pitiful state that overfed, oversexed Western man has been reduced to ....... let me roam the Savannah any day ........ Thanks ....lol Philip [This message has been edited by Poertree (edited 02-22-2000).] |

Jenni, I know you can relate....thanks for reading. I always appreciate your comments. Glad I could give you a chuckle. ![]() kaile, It'd be better to ask Jimbo or Philip... Thanks for reading and commenting. Jimteach and Philip, ROFLMAO..........You two are two too much!! Titillating responses, gentlemen. I've never laughed so much in the morning. I had a bit of difficulty with the titular aspect, but was able to form one that I deemed appropriate, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() What are you guys doing talking about your jobs on my thread? Hi Kris, What a delightful subject to start my day off today ![]() I notice the time of your post. I suppose there might be something relevant in that but I politely won't go there. ![]() Thanks for a nice warmer upper today. Kris: LOL. I just figured out by "titillating" and "titular" you are making clever references to the car titles. Every car has headlights too, you know. It's good to know our thinking is abreast on this. I know my critique wasn't very detailed ... maybe I'll return later and give it a hard nip and then, maybe, with a few more readings I will have a firm understanding of what you are really trying to say here. Ta-ta Jim P.S. Sorry for the rude discussion of vocations ... what do you do, btw? |

Pete, No need to be embarrassed, just one of those mysterious facts of life. Glad you thought it warming... The time had nothing to do with it...I tried to post it earlier, but was having 'puter problems. Jimteach, I am literally laughing so hard that I can't think of any type of clever response...it may take a while....hahahahahahahahahahahah, gasp,hahaha..............gasp,hehehehehehehe I don't care what you two talk about on my or any thread...feel free, as long as it isn't about me. Kris, just to be sure you understand, I'm not embarrassed at being guilty, but that I am so transparent as to be discovered quite so easily. ![]() Pete What terms shall I find sufficiently simple in their sublimity -- sufficiently sublime in their simplicity -- for the mere enunciation of my theme? Pete, As I said before, don't feel the least bit embarrassed. Every man is "transparent", as you say, on this subject. That's why we women wonder why...what is the big (or little, or medium, or just right) deal? Jim and Philip (especially Philip) were equally transparent...Jim just tried to hide his transparency a bit, but it didn't work that way. No need for any blushing men around here. Shelley, Glad you got a laugh out of it. All women talk about this, but we never get any answers...just "C'mon, Kris", like I'm supposed to be a psychic. This was the first post (and thread) I've read after being away for a while - what a place to start! This was a hoot, as was the discussion that followed. The first thing that came to mind is: You think it's hard to figure out what *WE'RE* attracted to????? Ha! Let me remind you that Henry Kissinger was once voted the "sexiest amn alive"! Another though... I read in a psychology text book that most people show a preference for people who look similar to the first person the had sex with. It kind of freaked me out, becuase it's VERY true in my case and I had never made the conection before. -Jimtoo |

Thanks, Philip with one L...now I see what "cars" are. LOL I just got a new one with a 24 valve V-6, 17 in. tires, chrome wheels, and a spoiler with a tail-light in it. What do you suppose that means? Jim, Nice to make your aquaintance. I don't think I've met you till now, but after reading your comments, and the banter between you and Philip with one L, I know I would have remembered you if I had. I did enjoy.
