Darkness By Paul Wilson What lies beyond the darkness in our mind? Our mind imagines all sorts of strange things We turn to run darkness all around us Not sure what this journey through our mind brings We have dreams of things we don’t understand Not knowing when they take over our mind Like a vicious circle visions haunt me Think I’d be better off if I was blind Things I see beyond darkness in my mind These visions I’d rather not see again Mind won’t shut down afraid to go to sleep I close my eyes visions consume my brain Nightmares never end darkness consumes me Mind leaps from the present back to the past People I don’t know invade my darkness Bringing memories without being asked When will the nightmares leave me alone? When will my mind be set free from the beast? Shadows in my mind cast upon the wall Darkness is waiting on my soul to feast I run but can’t escape this dream of mine Mirror shows reflection from my mind’s eye Haunting me never letting me forget Tonight I beg the darkness let me die Copy Righted 3/21/2021 ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

Very powerful piece Paul. Took me back to my early 20's in mind here. A very dark time for me when I could not close my eyes to sleep at all without being accosted by horrid nightmares. Related too well to the wishing you were blind and the wishing darkness would let you di lines. Something better awaits, i assure you this my friend. |
