I will “tip my hat to the lady” For that is the cowboy way. I open the door for my elders- Old fashioned, some people would say. But courtesy isn’t that costly- It may wear just a bit on your pride- Just the way that my parents raised me- And those childhood manners abide. I try to be kind to young children- Pay attention to what they have to say- Remember that they’re people also- And maybe they’ll listen some day. To an old man whose youth is behind him- To a lifestyle that is very near gone… Maybe they’ll tip a hat to the lady- Perhaps etiquette will live on. |
