I heard they asked you
"What's it worth?"

It was sometime after you left me
waiting...drinking coffee
with not enough sugar

I waited
until the lunch rush

I knew you were busy
and I didn't want to know with what
and I didn't want to meet your friend either

and I heard someone say as I left...
"Why did someone leave the ketchup on the table?"

and then I remembered

you don't like ketchup......

With the second line, a wedding ring comes to mind. Forgive me if I'm off. Enjoyed.

I know his hands will dig up my secrets"

this a nice way of poetically relating discontent  about an event that was supposed to happen but failed to occur...I like the symbolism with the condiment here...the poem could also have a back story of what lead to the failed meeting.

This reminds me of the writing style of an English poetess with a poetry blog site titled "Little Monsters Cannot Be Queen.". It reminds me in the best way because she is my favorite poet. She writes little stories with great emotional impact that in the end just leaves me silent from the intelligence of it.
