Sometimes I wish that I could see-
Myself through others eyes.
And see the flaws and shortcomings,
I rarely realize.

Discern the motivations
Which often are obscured.
And purge my heart of evil
And somehow make it pure.

And maybe truly empathize-
With someone else’s plight…
Undo the wrongs which I have wrought
And somehow make them right.

Alas, the clock is wound but once-
A lap can’t be rerun-
It seems that things are etched in stone-
Which in the past we’ve done.

If there be a moral-
Before my verse does end-
There are con- and prosequences-
In every life, my friend.

John...Second chances are ours for the asking. I have made many mistakes in my life, but thru my faith I have been given a second chance in life. That sir would take a book to cover all of the second chances I've been given. Take care my friend and stay positive...Paul

Indeed, there is no rerunning this race, me fried.  That being the case, it's seems wrong somehow that most of life's lessons come via a screw up.  Relate well to these words.

This flows well. Your poetry always does.
I can definitely relate to this. It's something that I thought I wanted for a long time, but now I don't. Years of self examination after destruction have given me a great amount of self awareness. That self awareness is mostly about the negative aspects though. I rarely see the good.  Maybe the good, instead, would be more therapeutic to see through someone else's eyes. Positive reinforcement is always more effective. Why not? After all, the past simply cannot be undone. It can only be replayed, and that mostly only leads to mental torture.

Pardon my long response. Enjoyed!
