I Get Like This Autumn leaves drift on the lawn A naked maple's clothes They rustle in the breeze at dawn Warning of the coming cold Just like them our warmth was gone We lost the heat we'd always known.. (build) This ol house was our first care Painting rooms and small repairs Key's still there under the mat Near the porch chairs where we sat Chorus: I get like this sometimes Thinking bout you fills my mind Your black hair your ruby lips The scent of you when we kissed Your fancy soaps in the shower Making love, talking hours Kitchen looking bare at breakfast Eatin toast a lonely crunch A voiceless time but who'd guess We'd fall short of being one While we tried to make the best Of healing an unfaithful love (build 2) Last year we vacationed camping Sang songs by the fire easily But the whole thing left us hanging Without first love's precious dreams Chorus: I get like this sometimes Thinking bout you fills my mind Your black hair your ruby lips The scent of you when we kissed Your fancy soaps in the shower Making love, talking hours Bird feeder swings on the patio Your image drifts out of sight The long way now is how we know Sometimes lovers fail for life All the birds come and go While I'm alone and lost inside (build 3) I miss all those special times Hand in hand when we started So I respect your open mind We stayed friends since we parted Chorus: But I get like this sometimes Thinking bout you fills my mind Your black hair your ruby lips The scent of you when we kissed Your fancy soaps in the shower Making love, talking hours true love never looks after it's own interests |

Beautiful job. Very nostalgic and bitter-sweet. I get like that sometime. I’d love to hear it sung. |

Thank you Michael I really appreciate that glad you saw it that way as a song which it's meant to be. Thank you for the signature reply to seems to work for me anyway unselfishness is not a way of life sometimes these days true love never looks after it's own interests |
