A Season, A Reason, A Lifetime

You asked if I was with you
for a season, a reason or lifetime.
As if there was a difference
in longevity between them.

I was with you for a season
of your life.
You shared your autumn years
with me.
I got your mellow time.

I was with you for a reason.
You were my knight
in leather armour
that saved my life.
How could I not help
but love you?

I was here to be with you
for the rest of your lifetime.
It was never a choice of
one of the three for me.
They were all one in the same.
