The Door By Paul Wilson The door slowly opened With an eerie squeak Standing at the threshold Not a word could I speak The room was pitch black Not a sliver of light My eyes tried to focus On a sound to my right Who’s there I asked boldly No reply was heard Silence reminded me Of someone being interred Again I asked who’s there thoughts in my mind did abound I turned towards the door It was no where to be found Is this just a dream? A figment of my imagination Or is this the beginning Of my eternal damnation Down a narrow hallway A pulsating light caught my attention Slowly I began to advance Into another dimension Following the light Feeling like I was in a trance No sound was heard I felt like this was my last chance Where would this light take me I asked As it took control A voice suddenly broke the silence I am the darkness of your soul You are now part of me I control the inner you You are in the belly of the beast I have consumed you Your time on earth has come to an end Into the darkness I welcome you No more dreams or tomorrows My control you can never undo I fought the hold the beast had on me I fought with all my might He just laughed at me I said I’ve just began to fight Back and forth the battle raged on For days and nights to the fifth dawn I’d take a little and give a little Holding my own until he was gone The battle was long and hard Many times I almost gave in To give up would be so easy This battle I must win A voice came to me that night Eternal life awaits you my friend Stay strong and I will save you This battle yours to win Copy Righted 5-25-2021 ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ Paul |

Great job, Paul. It started out pretty gloomy, but ended in ray of hope. Write on. |

Interesting writing here. Could almost think you've been visiting my dreamstead. While dreams like this used to induce panic in me, I think I just sit back and wait more often in them now. Kind of like real life I guess. I do my best by letting God open the doors before me and not fretting too much over the ones that close behind me if they have to. I know where I am going ultimately, I only get in trouble when I start thinking myself capable of planning the route. Great poem, Paul |
