Born of love in thunders' wake, she lived in joy and laughter
A maiden pure with hair of gold, 'twas her the boys ran after!

Claire would dance her chores away, waltzing through the dishes
Her love, a tinker by his trade, fulfilled her fondest wishes

And he, this lad of word and deed who hammered the copper still
Had dreams that rose above the mead, forging his iron will.

Claire’s laugh of silver chords did ring, concealing a warm intent
She gave her heart as pure as Spring, to her man who was heaven sent

His name was Hoke, though known as a joke, this laddie had fists of steel
So a man would think twice before he spoke, of Claire and how he feels

Sweet Claire would cast her smiles around, brightening the darkest days
But smiles returned caused Hoke to frown, and display his most threatening gaze

That 'ol green monster had its hold, but to his brow sweet Claire was soothing
She'd hum a tune to warm the cold and soon Hoke's heart was swooning.

With an angel face and a sweet caress, Hoke acted with shored restraint
Yes, Claire could lessen all his stress that jealousy couldn’t taint

A woman more fair with gifted hands, this lad had never known
Of this Hoke knew and made his stand, to be her only beau

Her father now, he had his views, of who his sweet Claire should wed
And when Claire heard this shocking news, her heart was filled with dread

Wanting a man of title, to wed his daughter so fair
One whose deeds would not be idle, and ne'er his bankbook be bare

So Hoke, with his daughter did flee that night, upon his sturdy steed
Sweet Claire and Hoke, no longer a joke, the two had now been freed

It was a lot of fun to put this one together, Miss Lori. It's quite old, so I dug it out and tried to put a little polish on it. I'm so glad you liked it! Thanks so much!

You're quite right, Miss Pinky...and there's no stopping it from pursuing what (or who) satisfies it.
It's a dreadful, yet most needed organ, is it not?

Many thanks, M'dear!
