‘Twas the day after Christmas and all through our town,
people were moaning with sorrows to drown
Some bewailed headaches and snowstorms in brains,
vowing they’d never drink liquor again

Some clutched their bellies and belched painful cries,
regretting consumption of pudding and pies!
Ruing their orgies of gross overeating,
the ups and the downs of their bathroom meetings!

Some looked at clothes patterned with passion,
mostly wrong sizes and quite out of fashion
Hankies to add to the scores in the drawer,
socks for the feet of an army and more!

Some looked skeptical at the presents received
and wondered how well their ruse might deceive
When in a year’s time the gift goes its way
as someone’s new present the next Christmas day

Well, Christmas survived, time for goodbyes,
hugs, and kisses, with tears in their eyes
“It was a lovely party, goodwill, and cheer,
we really must do this again next year!”

Hey what a fun read! and how accurate too! I had a great Christmas that just happened to be white. Right at this moment it is 9 degrees and snowing dime sized flakes. No, I'm not doing the day after madness. My daughter and I might do a movie.
I hope you succumbed to plenty of warm and festive Christmas wishes. ~L

Thank you, Miss Lori for sharing a piece of your "day after" with me. As it's been for awhile now, I had much more of a 'non-descript' holiday. But the next holiday season? That's the one I've been waiting for.
