Madness overtakes us each year
Earthbound children dream of Santa
Riding across the starry night
Right to their house, a present
Yielding, Rudolph-guided sleigh.

Calorie-rich cookies and cakes
Harbinger of hurtful tummies
Radiant, expectant children's faces
Imaginative, unspoiled by truth that
Santa really is dear Uncle Fred
Tanked on too much spiked eggnog and
Merry songs and mountains of food
And watching Tiny Tim one more time
Santa is a wonderful apparition.

To all eager children the world
Over Santa sends his love to you.

All is calm, all is at peace
Loving mom, excited children
Learns dad is home from the war.

How sweet Jerry!
And how sobering about Dad being home from the war. Say 'the war' to me and I think WWII. It is easy to forget we have had men in uniform in harms way all over the world since then without 'the war'.
Make no mistake, our men are coming back from war everyday and I think it is wonderful you remembered them in this poem.

Have a very Merry Christmas Jerry~L
