Shadow faces filling night, gentle winds breathing life in zephyrs blithe that stir them, patient gazes waiting; nothing I can do, I taste no doubt, time is karma's hungry shade; some faces calm while deft hands hide more than fearful few still wide eyed, shock as badges worn as if somehow a due in how they died; some by malice others priced, some wrong places some right times. I've known from morning having lost my count, a part of me crossed over; my clock is ticking louder, louder every day. Dragons rise to dance tonight acknowledging freedom's flight misplaced gift of light no longer tied to Earth, liberated fore my eyes in Midnight's blinding crystal prayer. Demons walk the world again; knowing well there is no heaventhere is no hell, aching fear keeps lights on, or are they welcome? They stride before a human tide of pathos glib wishes' laced theology, abstract cheap frivolity, optimistic lifelines braided creatively from despair in hopeful platitudes, whorish painted plaits for semi-celibates and saints and want-to-be's so sadly mortal men dressed in lies of silk and brocade gowns, posturing with empty words from now until Walpurgis Night when Northern World awakes again and Earth's lifeblood flows true to bud. It takes my breath away, some times, when I can slow my eyes to see through every priestly guise, to watch soft bending twisting lies dodging shadows' waxen movements ignoring Life's pale understanding, slipping in and out of wonder tickling seams of consciousness, emerging fancy raw awareness binding wistful dreams of righteous nonbelievers praying to be safe this year through sweaty fitful night. ©2008, 2014 by icebox |
