there were many ways I could travel that day I left home, rage in my heart I could have lived with all the lies except the one I found out later the biggest one was the one I had been told by a little boy who asked if I was kidnapped it all boiled over that night when I was sixteen I’d lived with whispers this little boy didn’t whisper he spoke loud and clear he didn’t know any better but the others did others knew better though small southern towns can be downright cruel with their damn gossip I could no longer remain there under that roof of lies and the town of cruelty so I fled in the middle of the night going where wherever the road took me the road took me many places I was ready for it all don’t ya know first place it took me was four and a half years in prison best thing ever happened to me learned a trade in there linotype operator setting type wherever I roamed pretty good money for a guy like me I went back to that lying house and that cruel little town just to look certain people in their lying eyes my Uncle Louie for one I’ll stop now and tell you my mothers name found it all my myself but I’ll never tell you how my mother’s name is . . . I'm glad that writing poetry gives you an outlet for all the hurt and disappointments in your life. I wish I knew what to say JP. All I know is what works for me and living in the past or not able to accept the things I can't change is no way to live. Just know you are not alone...i think we all suffer unimaginable pain, what sets us apart is waking up and living our individual disappointments every single day. But we do have choices how we choose to live our lives. We all have our personal journeys... |

Just know, Blues, I was finally able to identify my mother. I never blamed her. I probably would have if my"adopted mother hadn't been the way she was. Thank you for your deep conviction. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Well Jerry, for as hell bent on destruction that you started out, you have come a long way to tell the tale. (and many other tales too)You have plenty to be proud of despite your regrets. ~L |

Thank you Lori, my dear friend. I got more tales to tell than I ever thought I would have back in the day. Thank you, thank you. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

At first I thought this was a tale of another person. It takes a lot of guts to spill out such personal hurts in your life. I don't have that so my skeletons lay locked in an invisible closet somewhere. Glad to read all the usual poets are still here to fan the fire. I have been just 'away' counting my hurts |

Very sorry that you had to hide away to hide your hurts, jjote. I hope you are well on your way to a full consideration. Thank you for your kind words. They are appreciated much more than you can imagine. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

Sometimes the journey is filled with horrific hurts and disappointments beyond words...I've always believed that it is those things and the way we handle them that give us inner strength to persevere....We make or break our own happiness ~ Thank you for sharing Jerry Alana |

Yes, we have our hurts and disappointments, Alana. It was a pleasure to share this with you, and all the rest, my friend. You are a full-fledged wonder, my friend. Thank you, thank you again. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ |

JERRY SOMETIMES IT IS BEST TO SHED OURSELVES OF THE HURTS..THERE ARE SO MANY WAYS TO FIND HAPPINESS.oNE IS BY GIVING OF YOURSELF EVEN IF THE STORIES ARE SAD, BUT IF IT UNBURDENS YOU A BIT THERE ARE MANY STRONG SHOULDERS HERE TO HOLD THEM AND WE ARE FREE TO TOSS THEM FOR YOU.BEST TO YOU, LATEARRIVAL/MARTYJO |

I'll probably eat these words, but, the strength of you now, is what that little town created...a much better person, who is so much more aware than most...but above all, you turned the pages of your journey into something very rich and profitable...in other words, from our suffering comes much newness, out with the old, in with the new.... I'm so sorry your heart was hurt... suffering grows the spirit strong and true... |

If you eat those words, Lee, no need topping them with marmalade, the words are sweet enough just as they leave your pretty mouth. ~ If they give you ruled paper, write sideways. ~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (10-11-2017 10:12 AM).] |
