Fair to middlin' of nowhere

I’m trying to mine
that vein of contentment
running through my life.
I want to prospect a small fortune
of golden treasured smiles.
I’m panning for memories
to nest away for my tomorrows.
I’m pick axing grins and giggles
and gems of groaner jokes.
And I must admit the view
from the downhill side
is quite lovely this time of year.

Ah, this is something else. You keep prospecting and pick axing away. You have so much to offer the world, beginning with that fantastic smile. Yesss! "mine that vein of contentment," you will be richer for it. Loved this poem.

Yes I do have a great smile (everyone does) that is a gift that keeps on giving and my sense of humor I can use to brighten anyone's day. My latest favorite thing on Thursdays is to tell people it is Oh Thit! day. (Thank Heaven's it's Thursday). Every Sunday at supper my Dad tells me a groaner joke that I can't wait to torment my co-workers with on Monday. For example: Why did the gum cross the road? It was stuck to the chicken. ~L

Hah! A groaner for sure, but it got a big laugh from me. You do know your assets, my friend, and they they make you the wonderful person you are.

Hey Blues,
I always look forward to hearing from you. More than once you have brought up about my poetry being honest. That means a lot thank you very much. ~L
