Think of all the places we imprint each day. Mindless details we display, like empty spaces on our shelves where we got things for ourselves. Make the bed when we get up? Leave a dirty coffee cup? How much passes through our hands like the hourglass’ moving sands. Like a ship we leave a wake, no matter if we give or take. We make a difference wherever we go. It doesn’t always seem like it though. If we’re not here, it wouldn’t be the same, They’d have to find someone else to blame. Someone who can’t be the special thing we are. Out of billions, we are our own unique star. There is much we have in common, I must say, one is we can show kindness along our way. Kindness is an effort we must make, it is a matter of both give and take. Kindness can change the world we live in. On one act at a time lives are dependin’. So remember what importance your kindness holds even when we don’t know how the act unfolds. |

Really enjoyed the piece, my friend though I don't entirely agree. I've had kindness, and I a very kind person in general, slap me in the face a number of times. And I have leaned turning the other cheek, most times, is an act of futility. Still, I believe kindness is the better way to go. again, nice piece. j. |

Pinkalina, Have to admit Ellen has been an inspiration for me on a daily basis. It is as much a state of mind as it is acts performed. ~L |

Hey Jimmy, Don't confuse my "kindness" with being a pacifist. Soldiers can be kind. ~L |

There was a businessman in my hometown Lori, who had something to say about "kindness" relative to your comment,"Don't confuse my "kindness" with being a pacifist". It went like this: "Don't mistake my kindness for weakness. I'm kind to everyone. But when someone is unkind to me...'weak' is not what they're going to remember about me". His name was Al Capone. One ladle serves the soup that feeds the mouths of the many. |

Wow Boomer! Al Capone?! Jeeze, that's the last thing I expected to hear! I won't argue the point. Because I can see somebody knocking out a loud mouth obnoxious drunk as an act of kindness to the rest of the party goers. Just saying... ~L |

I loved the message. It made me stop and think how I want to live be my life. I'm a "pay it forward" kind of person. This poem speaks to me. Thank you, Lori. A |
