Sitting On A Swing Saw you sitting on a swing when I was seven and you were six, and I saw butterflies and angel wings sky blue and sunshine oh, how I wished you where mine. Saw you carve your name on a tree with someone other than me; you were 13 a flower in bloom and oh, how I wished you were mine. Saw you between classes in our senior year you were beautiful and everything about you shown with a special light; you were seventeen I was eighteen I waved, you smiled, oh, why didn't I ever ask you out. . . . © wesley james beard, jr. |

Funny how some regrets linger...maybe not so much regret as wondering what if...~L |

There seems to be a threshold unique to each person, but common to most where experiences of any note decline and memories along with some regrets become a larger part of our waking hours. It's usually a signal that it's time for a change. Either that or get that "pre-planning" taken care of and hit the rocker with a resounding thump...and wait. Just out looking for the real me... |

P.U.S. Glad to see such a thoughtful comment my friend, and glad to see you here. But, overall I disagree with just about all you said, at least among the many with whom I associate- and we are an older crowd for sure. We don't dwell on our memories and have no more regrets than anyone else, and regrets sure don't predominate our waking hours. Change, I think we all look forward to change - all the way from birth. And the last sentence - we've all pre-planned for our demise for many years, and the rocker- yeah, but only after we've exhausted ourselves working in the yard and in the garage (woodworking), baby sitting our grand children and every other little/big thing occupying our life. The "resounding thump" - yeah - so we can rest before the next round of enjoyment. Again, thanks for coming in, and commenting so thoughtfully. j. |
