Because it Feels Good |

Something about the smell of fresh cut grass reminds me of summer and running through the yard with my wet from the wading pool bare feet covered in grass clippings. It takes me back to being a kid. My scrawny body, impervious to the heat, playing in dirt fine as talcum powder that settles softly on my upper lip and around my eyes damp with sweat. I play until Dad comes home then it’s time to eat After supper, its bath time and I leave a ring. Fresh from the tub and in my PJ’s I pester my older brothers, with their new summertime short bristly haircuts, by running my feet over their heads just because it feels good. |

Your well articulated reminisces were very entertaining to read Lori Rhoden and your close is most profound in it's relative innocence: quote:To think we actually were able to practice this 'philosophic debauchery' without a license was remarkable! I think I finally had to surrender it when what I was "practicing" was deemed immoral, if not illegal! Just out looking for the real me... |

quote:Never thought of it that way as a lad. Must be the effeminate take, which I like very much. ...just bein' Bluesy |

Pleased to meet you Lori ~ Your poem certainly has me feeling good after reading it. I took a few leaps back into my own childhood and afforded myself the precious memories of your words. Thank you for sharing that ~ Loved my read. |

PU, The 3 boys were awfully patient with their little sister back then. Innocence is what makes a heart light. ~L |

Bluesey, Thanks for the read! The only other thing I could think of that it brought to mind was the dirt of an ant hill and I just couldn't make that work. ~L |

Memories - aren't they the bomb! They just make one's stage in life all the better because, good or bad, we can see what brought us to this point. And you wear them well in this piece, my friend... j. |

Hey Jimmy! I was a pretty cute little kid until I had to get glasses in the second grade. Best part about being a little kid is that you don't worry about what you look like. ~L |
