My Autumn Ghost~

Setting Indian Summer sun
honey- glows your memory,
you surround like the weathered
open back porch calling my thoughts
to gather and reflect.

I'm settled by the fire-pit warmth
in the cushioned glider
moving and smoothing concerns
to and fro.

Nearby..circled evergreens
hold a seance for the birch tree
that died by the shed,
evening chill scatter blows..
lifts embers to cold stars.

Your hinted presence provides
a trusted familiarity
that's sorely needed,
under this cloud bobbing
wary moon,
mischievous,
like you.

Autumn is always the briefest of the seasons here.  It's like the child you have to say goodbye to before ever watching it fully develop.  Leaves a melancholy trace behind, as the whole world grows cold about you.

I know this poem is about something else entirely put the pictures you paint with your words stimulated my nostalgia.  Was still 95 here yesterday.  Don't image we will have any Autumn at all this year.

quote:
Your hinted presence provides
a trusted familiarity
that's sorely needed,

That line is striking.  I know how strong those hints can be too.

Beautiful words as always, Sky~

My goodness! I do get lost in your images!  There is Autumn in this, but there are other things here. I can feel them.

Like Temptress I get lost in the beauty of your words too, or better yet, I get found. Outstanding as always, I just love your work.
