Illusions of The Mind By Paul Wilson Dreams come and go in a fleeting Moment within our mind Some we remember for all time Others not well defined Some dreams we call nightmares Cause they reveal visions that haunt Some dreams are puzzling and leave us With more memories than we want How many dreams do we have? During our lifetime we never know We have no control of what and when we dream From our mind they endlessly flow The mind is a mystery we will never understand Dreams with a rewind button to visit again Some with a delete button erased forever Moments in time to ponder again The curtain rises on another dream tonight Characters come into view Faces never revealed through minds haze Leading role played by you Loved one’s from the past Sometimes visit you in dreams They bring messages to you from the afterlife No rhyme or reason or so it seems Our dreams we cannot see They bring us happiness and doubt Questions with no answers Dreams we can’t control or live without Copyrighted 8/25/2020 ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ Paul [This message has been edited by Paul Wilson (08-25-2020 10:50 PM).] |

Beautiful, Paul. Waking and sleeping dreams and nightmares plague me. I write them down and analyze them piece by piece. The reoccurring ones are somewhat distressing, and the ones of a lost love make me sad when I wake up. They're extremely vivid.. I'm not sure if this is the reaction you were going for. It just made me think. Enjoyed! "How much is real? So much to question |

Beautiful, Paul. Love what you went with for a title here as well, though I do believe there is much to our unconscious insight that might make the illusion only apply to our consciousness. I spent the first 30 years of my life where most every sleep was nightmare consumed. Old age has brought peace of mind and soul with it. The depth and detail to my dreams are amazing now, the places I go, the people I see I would swear real on some of them. And the visits from loved ones passed I share as well. I can't imagine not having them. Very much enjoyed this. Michael |

Michael...So glad you found some connection with this poem. Hopefully your night mares are over and you continue to have pleasant dreams. I did have to change the title a couple of times because others that I've written had my first and second choice for a title. The unconscious mind is a strange part of our make-up, Do you ever see faces in your dreams? I never do or I don't remember them, just voices. Thanks so much for reading and your in-depth reply...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

I think all poets are dreamers, Paul. I know that is where much of my inspiration comes from. |

Paul, I do see faces in some of my dreams, but not all of them. Almost every time I dream of someone who has passed on I see their faces quite prominently. Other dreams I can feel very close to a person in and yet not see them at all, but as you say hear their voice or recognize their presence. Prolly see faces in about 50% though, I always wondered if our spirits wandered and actually touched to make this happen at one point in my life. The dreams that intrigue me the most are the once where the landscape, whether a dirty city or a humidity infested jungle seem to come alive in detail, where you can see a bug crawling the crack in the bricks, or the moisture welling up and slowly dripping off the leaves. Dreams that present themselves that real and are vividly seen also lent credence to the spirit traveling theory. I have seen faces of people I do not know in real life while they would not even realize I was there. Felt like I was witnessing a real life event, and not always a good one…somewhere. Michael |

How well you put it...sometimes I find myself lost in daydreams of memories...I love the way this poem talks of dreams and their meaning to us...so well put that reading it over a few times brought to my mind memories and dreams of times when dreams go unfulfilled...delightful |

Karen...So glad you enjoyed this. Dreams are a part of our lives that we don't really understand much but they can be such a blessing or a curse. The sub conscious mind is hard to understand.
