I am a poet
through and through,
driven to do what poets do:
to feel,
to dream,
to hope,
to care,
to remember,
to search,
to write,
to share,
to question,
to cry,
to learn,
to die
and leave behind words...
my words
rather than dust or ashes.

When my grandmother passed away I was 18 years old.  She left no will and I remember all her family members gathering like vultures and fighting over everything she had.  Everyone but me.  Before she had passed my grandmother had left me all of her poetry.

Everything else everyone may have fought for and obtained I am sure is gone today, save for maybe some photographs.  I have her soul on paper though...and I can touch her anytime I want just by reading what she left for us.  That's exactly what poets do.  They leave a little piece of their soul in everything they write.

I love you ink, Ida.

IDA...What a sweet honest write. That's what poets do. I had mine willed to my daughter who use to read then almost every night before she passed. She use to say she could read the same poem 10 times and find a different connection and meaning to it each time.

I really loved Michaels reply those poems are his forever memory of his Grandmother.

Thanks for sharing...Paul

Sounds like LIFE to me my friend...the growing obscurity of the past and the fascination of future times.

Much Enjoyed,

I love this.
I choose words and ashes.

This is what the Poet does. . . indeed.

Well done. . .
