What’s Left to Burn?

Asked if she gave the truth
Would it change things?

It would have made
Continuation possible
At one point.
Not anymore.

With everything burned
To the ground now,
What’s left to burn?

Truth is a foundation,
Something you start with,
Build on…
Not a last second life-line.

It not something you just
Throw in when convenient
Or when nothing else works…
The nothing else
That never had a place here
To begin with.

Would I have still loved her?
Of course I would have.
Love is not an emotion
You can just turn off.

I love her still,
Even now,
Walking away.
The last of the ash
Sifted.
Fingers ever stained.

Michael...Very deep emotions here. This reminds me of one of my favorite country songs. " Victim of the Game" by Garth Brooks
Very sad touching song but it touches my soul
Hang in there buddy...Paul

This is a great answer to the question. Michael. You make a heavy truthful point here.

"How much is real? So much to question
An epidemic of the mannequins
Contaminating everything"

sometimes Not.

a very sensitive way to talk about a love story, questionnings are sometime an answer, thanks for the moving share

I love her still,
Even now,
Walking away.

How very profound...beautifully put

Thank you, Paul, it’s really amazing how a person can not realize how fresh a wound they may carry actually still is until asked about it.  Kind of what happened here.  You can blame Jenn for asking.

The truth is a painful, heavy existence I think, Jenn.  Would take that over a life based on lies any day.

Sky!...rofl.  It’s only great when I bother to listen to it.  I don’t seem to find myself writing with an abundance of it in forethought often, only in afterthought.

Questions don’t always yield answers, but answers almost always yield more questions, yann.  See there, now you got me philosophizing.  I have a strict "no thinking" policy on weekends, so stop that!

Thank you, Karen.  It doesn’t feel profound…just sad to me.
