A Speck in Time Was speeding on my way to work When of one thought became aware: When comes the day I leave this earth, What matters how fast I get there? A simple thought, yet quite profound. To think I could simply slow down, Or even take a look around To see we tread a hallowed ground. This earth, sacred, life much more so, Yet of all creatures gathered here, God gave humans insight to know The worth to a day, or a year. Can’t take it with you anyway, And yet we strive, we grind, we toil From day we’re born till day we lay His creation back to the soil. A speck in time forever mine, This life, how will I fulfill it? Dig a deep hole, or touch a soul? I’ll choose the latter, God will it. Michael Anderson 8/18/2020 |

Michael...Profound thoughts here. Would it be better to know when that time will come or it just happen in the blink of an eye? I had a near death occurrence once while driving. All I could do was say to myself Quote " I'm not gonna make it" At the last second I or something turned the wheel and all was good. Didn't mean to bare my soul to you tonight, Your poem just made me think of it. Thanks for sharing...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

Well you've already touched one soul that I know of. We have to find ways to do as much as we can with the time we're given. Live and reach. Enjoyed. "How much is real? So much to question |

You touch many with your words...this speck in time is very well put...all creation is so beautiful if we can get past the evil that runs rampant |

Paul, that is a question I could spend pages answering. If heaven is a spiritual aligning with God, I think it possible we may be able to at least slightly perceive it as humans a times. A glimpse of the physical world we like to think permanent in one matter or another but suddenly realize isn’t. I had a near death experience in my early 30’s. It was the most peaceful feeling I have ever experienced…maybe I’ll share the details via email sometime. Was completely despondent upon returning here, to earth, where I have never experienced any similar emotion in the entirety of my life. I dwelled then, but the whole episode I take in these days… the fact that I know my spirit left my body at one point, affirming life after death…the joy I felt, and believe will be there for me ultimately when I pass from this body permanently. I think anyone who has had a near death experience can probably at least affirm the spirit passing on part? Asking because, come to think of it, I have never actually tested that theory. Anyhow, a poet apologizing for baring his soul…there’s something comical about that notion. Just sayin’. Glad you enjoyed, my friend. Michael |

Jenn, I hope you mean in a positive way. “We have to find ways to do as much as we can with the time we're given. Live and reach.” Indeed, it’s only when we understand ourselves truly that we can even begin to imagine how we affect others. We only get there by reaching. Michael |

Karen, all that evil is here to keep our eyes from seeing what is always present, whenever we do take the time to see. Thank you for your reply. Michael |
