I just don’t understand why I keep dreaming- Of something that could never hope to be. Of a princess who, in spite of all my scheming Is still living in a land across the sea. I kid myself by thinking she could love me- In honesty there isn’t much to love- I always think of me when making choices- I choose myself when push turns into shove. A hopeless dream, I know, but please don’t wake me It’s in my dreams I find tranquility- Perhaps some night in sleep, sweet Death will take me- And from my hopeless dreams he’ll set me free. |

"A hopeless dream, I know, but please don’t wake me" This reminds me of the original Matrix movie. Everyone being spoonfed their *dream, which ironically requires struggle and a feeling of discontent or dissatisfaction to not completely glitch out the individual, only to come to realize they truly are just batteries in the big ol' machine and none of what they are experiencing is real to begin with. It's almost like looking outside or taking a walk down the street these days. Anyhow...sorry for skewing off on that tangent, John. I do think we all keep the slightest hope for that hopeless dream...the one that lives just past the edge of possibility, barely noticeable unless brought to our attention by something else. It's part of the human factor, it's what keeps us batteries producing. Michael |
