May Day~

May Day..May Day..
Nuance of her adrift at sea,
Something is amiss, not free

Feelings not the same inside,
But he's no longer strong,
So loyalty abides.
Years like waves roll over her,
Thoughts call out
May Day..May Day..
But knows a rescue she'll not accept,
For a promise must be kept,
Even though the heart beats out
Emergency,
A facade she lives, while her essence
is lost at sea

Oh, May Day..May Day..
Just a bell-buoy in the distance rocking..
Echo slowly knocking,
As it
Fades..

may day is a beautiful poem, launched at the sea, with some rememberings of "war", appreciate this metaphor

I love the flow of this poem...am amazed by the sadness I feel from it...wonderfully written.

Hrmmm... I suddenly feel like I am on the Titanic watching the last last lifeboat row away.  This is a sad place to be, Sky~, trapped more by your own code of honor than anything else that *should be present to bind you here...

"But knows a rescue she'll not accept"

funny how we can ascribe the thought of being bound to a state of feared permanent drifting.

The thoughts at least give you a voice...and you share beautifully on a vast sea that echoes with many others who are lost in eerily similar circumstance.

Sky,
You are to hard on yourself. It is your work so you are free to call it flat if you want. It took me places I didn't realize I'd been to
until you verbalized it for me. Flat? Stood up and slapped me in the face. ~L
