The Jump The eyelash and diving board and the jump gets bigger each time I dare to look Say you're tired and you're bored turn and see around you we've all read that book The sum total of nothing blocks my way through clogs up my mental arteries The pleasure meets the pain blending these words until all is meaningless you see Step up to the line measure the fall just one motion gravity takes care of it all Safe from harm, taught from birth safe as houses rooted in the earth I don't know anyone I don't know anyone ready to test their worth The eyelash and the diving board still the jump gets deeper every time I dare to look “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” MLK |
