Women Don't Cry Pretty~ Tears really do freeze, and women don't cry pretty, we can stand out on a limb in high heels and never waver, pretend to be strong when you've scrubbed steel-wool to our insides. We're at the very core of it all.. absorbing our childs pain, offering drink from cupped hands of love till you are full. We continue to scratch and claw our names, etching a voice.. in a soft whisper, or a maddening scream, we know when each is needed. We cry behind closed doors.. and behind the many masks we wear, sometimes into a glaring sun.. and yes..with the audacity to weep among the masses in open air because something has feathered our heart, or took a bite out of our soul. A jar Full with tears..how precious could that be.. Movies lie, women don't cry pretty. ©Augustsky |

I don't think I've ever seen the true essence of a woman captured so perfectly, Sky~ "etching a voice.. in a soft whisper, or a maddening scream, we know when each is needed." "we can stand out on a limb in high heels and never waver, pretend to be strong when you've scrubbed steel-wool to our insides." The strength displayed when there should only be fear or doubt. The grace they hold about them, against all odds, when all about them is railing...the confidence shown as the raise their chin and look out, despite the agony they feel inside. I always believed our angels must be keeping our tears and handing them to God and that is what rain is God crying our tears back out and washing it all away! Very good poem! Take care! |
