It is all there.
A close up of the eyes
will tell stories
that will make you shiver
with pleasure
or horror.
Sometimes
little flecks of things she notices
will trigger buried memories
and an old rage
will flash so brightly
that you will think
it is meant for you.
It is not.
Never worry about this for long
because although she may gasp
and sink
she has learned also
to pull her way
through life's darkened waters.
She made art,
of swimming
in an effort to save her own life.

"How much is real? So much to question
An epidemic of the mannequins
Contaminating everything"

If there's one thing I know about you, Jenn, it's that you are a survivor.  Swimming is overrated though...it always takes you where you think you want to go.  I prefer to float and drift where the tide takes me, saves me from disappointing myself.

Truly, I love seeing this side of you.

Paul,
Thank you. Ya'll are definitely making me blush a lot. I'm glad that you enjoyed it. I like to stir.

Augustsky,

Thank you. There have been many difficult times, but I'm sure others have had it worse. I don't know that I've ever felt trusting enough in anything to float, but swimming through I've been able to do so far.

Sven,

Thank you for the read. There were times when I needed one. Thank goodness for strong friends and my strong will. Right now I'm dog paddling waiting on the right direction.

Michael,

Thank you. Survival leaves scars, but I've made it this far. I don't trust myself to float. That's what got me into trouble in the first place, but then, swimming against the tide has often been troublesome as well.

Wonderfully written. The phrase "to pull her way through life's darkened waters." stood out for me, it speaks to me of inner strength and determination. I too wish to learn this art of swimming.

Marshalzu,

Thank you so much! I'm glad the image had the impact I intended. I believe we all have that inner strength and determination.  We just need to be aware of it and draw from it.

Starmcneil,

Thank you. The road has not been kind. I seem to have abundant amounts of will. Maybe one day I can say it's all been worth the fight.
