Lustre of Life

Paint a perfect picture of home
and a river of watercolor blue and chrome
all so suddenly you are not alone

This lustre of life
walking on the sun
the keeness of a knife
and the barrel of a gun
oh this lustre of life
we will have our fun

Pen a perfect poem of love
and an ocean moon like a diamond in the rough
all so suddenly you called their bluff

This lustre of life
dancing with the stars
the drummer counts to five
and you find out who you are
and this lustre of life
we all have our scars

Check the time and stumble into rhyme
the right words for the monotony beat of every day
your lines all rehearsed and you couldn’t feel any worse
sometimes we all need to say
hey world, won’t you get the hell out of my way

This lustre of life
walking on the sun
the keeness of a knife
and the barrel of a gun
oh this lustre of life
we will have our fun

This lustre of life
singing to the moon
scratching to feel alive
moving with a lilt in your tune
yeah this lustre of life
we work all our lives to ensure it won’t end too soon
oh isn’t it funny
the sad irony?

Paint a perfect picture of home
got traumas in the television, dramas on the telephone
it comes to you suddenly, you are never alone

Paint a picture of the soul, and is it just a picture?  I do this daily in able to face life.  But then is it really life I am facing?

Enjoyed this much.  We poets do tend to leave it all on the page.

Depending on the day I'm not sure how much lustre is left in life. I find it corners I haven't been to in a while.

Enjoyed the thinking.

I like the ideas here, and the way you express them (pen, paint, etc. . )

Excellent. . .
