you'll probably have to forgive the lack of editing here. I've had a bit to drink. I fling out insistent hands to ward off silence and touch beneath rough stone behind raw skin as wind attempts to keep me calm. I'm looking at the sky now laughing from unknown and humorless places what is giggling is giddy with challenge thrown without restraint on the ground. Gauntlet cast gaze level eyes filled with the rage of feeling anything at all. If only my heart could fast, but no. It feasts on bones and skin the white remains the softest pieces of what is left when too many storms have carved out holes much like dripping rain does to rocks over time. The numb! The cold! The raving fiendish monster! It craves a match, a round with my will. Some things are better off in cages.

Jenn, I gotta admit it, when it comes to a fight, one can never find a more fiendish enemy than themselves. They won’t fight fair either. The sky is a vast, humorless place I think. The many faces I see up there tell me so. In this poem, I see someone who is bound by natural human emotion and need, and yet her own worst enemy in protecting what shreds of dignified humanity she may still have left. I wish I could tell you the world is a safe place to allow yourself to feel again. But I know from experience it is safer to live by thought process than emotion. If only the emotions would cooperate with said logic we’d all be much better off. Some deep imagery. Another enjoyable peek. |

Micheal, You're right. Also, I'm not sure I fight fairly in general. The sky can be a bit more beautiful when you're not a "lightweight" who is several drinks in with too many things on the mind. Restlessness settling in can be bad. It isn't safe, but feeling just happens with no regard for my comfort level. It's kind of bossy. On humanity, there have been times where I thought I was losing it. Thank you for seeing this.

Micheal, It definitely is at times. Now I'm thinking about vampires turning their humanity off in shows and movies then going on a rage biting spree. ![]()

Just because it's in a cage. . . Doesn't mean we can't feed it. . . -- That which gives light must endure burning. |
