Fair to middlin' of nowhere

June bugs knocking on my front door,
the porch light draws them in.
The little dog likes to go out in the dark
and play chase and crunch .
The cat takes so long
making up her mind
to walk in the door,
June bugs beat her to it.
Catch them at the living room nightlight,
busily buzzing about the bottom.
Misfortune finds them on their backs,
then scooped up and thrown
back out the door.
To uninvite them from my porch,
I shut the porch light off
and let the soft glow of the solar take over.
Without the June bugs buzzing and banging,
the porch is a peaceful place to sit
and look at the stars,
listen to the animals
or watch it rain
at 2:00 am.

nothing better than sitting on the porch watching the rain...except for doing it at night.

and best of all Michael, I had the feeling
that I had the whole Village to myself...Even the dogs were all quiet. ~L

I don't even know what a June bug is. It feels like I should know. If they're those blind and drunk dive bombing beetle bugs I like to take the electric fly swatter after them. ROFL! Cute write!  I think a tropical storm is coming through here.  I can't wait for the rain.

For me, the worst part about June bugs are their little hook feet that catch on your clothes and hair-anywhere. Their buzzing whir is creepy, their chubby brown bodies are crunchy under your feet, ewe. ~L
