Looking Back Six year old boy, the Fourth of July the faces of my family smile and catch the light the air was thick with hot dog scents and dragonflies and I looked back to that time with longing eyes She was as lovely as a dream hair reminded me of childhood summertime I was thinking kids and marriage, I was just eighteen and I looked forward to the time with longing eyes Life is a series of rooms with a view and just outside the window that you’re gazing through the wheels of time whirr on and on you know you can’t stop it so why even try it’s like a song with a melody you can’t deny Well these years have fallen beneath my wheels like a million snowflakes on the road I’m older and wiser but the fire of youth I still feel so tonight as the Fourth of July sky explodes I watch the smiling faces of my children catch the light and I look at where I am now with contented eyes "A society grows great when old men plant trees in whose shade they know they shall never sit—Anonymous |

There is so much to love about your poem, As in the lives we live, reality shines or can be a perpetual storm in the offing. Like rooms with a view through our own Lens.....your poem inspires an endless panorama. Bless your heart soul drifter, always love reading you. |

And bless your heart in return Blues, for your kind comments which were just in time, as I hoped for a reply. Thanks for your continued support over the years, every writer wants eyeballs of others on their work else you're just talking to yourself. |
