Somewhere, Within Somewhere, in a mind blackened by abusive parents, drugs, bullies and the rejection of my peers whom I wanted as friends, I still linger, a tiny light, a flame shadow bright. I haven’t given up, though the temptation has been strong. I bleed, not like blood redly dripping and running from wounds or pores, nor like pustules oozing with yellowed rot, swirled with red, but from and within, my soul. I think that’s the real me, everything else being the façade that gets me through the day. Somewhere, Within, I dream of being You. © wesley james beard, jr. James...I can relate to you and this poem, as I was also bullied while growing up. While growing up just being a part of something like others were was my dream. Thanks for sharing this inner you with all of us...Paul ~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~ |

Powerful sharing, Jimmy. Just kick those demons to the curb. I grew up pretty poor and was bullied but not much. If not for my sarcastic sense of humor it would have been worse. |

"everything else being the façade that gets me through the day." I think a very many of us can relate to that line. I wonder what percentage of who we are is who we show the world? |
