Let Him Lie |

Headstones tell a story- Memorials or such- They are often sentimental- And heart strings truly touch. I guess that I will have one… When I finally die; But write the truth upon it Don’t shame me with a lie. I think about my brother- And the stone there at his head. Although I dearly loved him- I’m grieved by what is said… “Friend to all who knew him” That simply is not so. I fear he was a bully- And I should surely know. Unfaithful to his family- Abusive to his friends. A drunkard without caution That’s how his story ends. He went and got entangled Between a man and wife… His drinking and aggression Cost the man his life. So do me one small favor- When it comes my time to die. Let me write my epitaph- Don’t shame me with a lie! My name…I guess, and date of birth- And then the day I die. “He minded his own business- So, now just let him lie.” |

Love this one John. People have a way of not letting one mind his own business in life, I hope to find peace in death myself. |
