I was a dreamer I’m forced to admit-
With nowhere to start, unwilling to quit-
Stars in my eyes, an itch to my feet…
I marched to a drum with a much diff’rent beat.

There’s a danger in dreaming. I warn you my friend
You have no foundation on which to depend-
A life that’s composed of myriad schemes-
You miss all that matters pursuing those dreams.

Pursuing a princess, you pass by a jewel-
Too late you’ll discover that fantasy’s cruel.
The goals you’re pursuing are not like they seem-
You will realize late it was only a dream.

If dreams suit your fancy, then dream on, my friend
They will turn into nightmares ere your journey’s end.
Far better to quit all your manifold scheming-
I know all too well, the danger of dreaming.

Dreams teach us all a harsh lesson, don't they, John?  Especially the ones we tend to dream while actually awake.  Very fluid writing.
