I guess that she’s my mother-
My lady, and my wife.
I know that I sure love her-
And I have for all my life.

I’m speaking now of Texas-
The land from which I sprung
She must have had a hand in it
The day the stars were hung.

I love her western deserts
Her mountains sere and bare…
The mesquite trees of South Texas,
The clean, Panhandle air.

The Piney Woods are pretty
And some, I’m sure they please-
I find I have a hard time,
Telling forest from the trees.

The Gulf Coast has its good points
If a person likes to fish.
I prefer to hunt my whitetails
If I could have my wish.

But every day I bow my head
And thank the Lord above-
That I was born in Texas,
The State I dearly love.

Have lived in Texas more than half my life.
May not be born here, but I'm definitely "home grown" and swear Texas ceded where I was born just long enough for me to say

"I'm a Texan, 'nuff said! "

Gunslinger - If I was a southern boy and was taken up North, they say after a while I'd be talkin' with an accent. Makes me proud to be a northern boy who was brought down South where they say after a while I began talkin' normal. LOL. Texas......where there's enough open space to spend a lifetime and you can talk about it all day. Very nice work Gunslinger. Namyh
