Self-pity, I have found to be- A not uncommon malady. It seems occurring in all walks Of life, and everybody stalks. So easy to fall victim of Because of failure, or of love The common element I see- Is, “why’s this happening to me?” Why not, friend? To you I mean? Should others suffer while you preen? The path of life, I fear is fraught With perils, so I have been taught. So, “buck up”! take it on the chin- When you’re knocked down get up again If you will take this sound advice- You’ll not fall victim to this vice. Vice? You say, how can that be? I’m only taking care of me. Ah, that’s my point! But I digress Self-pity leaves you in a mess. |
