I guess I never was that much to look at; Good manners never were my cup of tea. And, friend, I promise I’ll mind my own business- If you will only do the same for me. Because I’m big don’t think that I am stupid- I can think, in spite of my hard looks- You’d be surprised to find that I’m a dreamer- And take a lot of pleasure in my books. I’ve always wanted someone who would love me- Despite a past of which I am ashamed. I suppose I’ve made my share of foolish choices- Some for which I was unjustly blamed. But often in my dreams, my life is different- The one I’m with will find me very kind. She won’t be deterred by all my scars and wrinkles- The thing she’ll find attractive, is my mind. I cannot help but think she’s out there somewhere- And possibly desires a man like me… And even if in life we’re seperated- Perhaps in death together we may be. |

Love your “more introspection”, John. Oh yes, she’s out there, there’s no doubt about that, and I know she finds you a kind, handsome, charming dreamer with a beautiful mind, and loves you for exactly who you are, and you couldn’t be stupid if you tried (oh, OK, maybe if you tried, lol), and I know she will be with you in death, This poem and many others of yours would melt the heart of a stone statue of Queen Victoria. |
