The Taming of the Idiot

Where have you been
the taming of the idiot
is really happening
she cuts into the cake of me
and writes off every tired old cliche
that my gaping mouth keeps sending her way

Who have I been
the reigning of the idiot
his kingdom in ruin
she melts the crown of gold
into two rings we'll wear tonight
a chapel bell and a flicked off motel light

Oh I said I don't know
if this is right for me
she just sighs and says
oh but I know
so shut up and help me sow these seeds

This is how I've been
the flaming of the idiot
down to sight unseen
she stirs the embers gracefully
and sets our course across the stars
we trace every constellation that look like scars

Yeah I wish I knew
if this is meant to be
she holds me and says
oh I but I do
so turn off your mind and get some sleep

I say oh holy woman come dance with me
we'll move between rain drops with ease
and kick down the barricades of the evening
there's no moon hanging over my inner blue sea
and I can't see what's on the other side
no I just can't wait until I have nothing left to hide

Oh I said I think I know
this is right for me
she smiles and says
I told you so
so kiss me and we'll get drunk on everything

She just smiles and says
baby now you know
so c'mon and help me reap these seeds

Yes, listen to her, she knows. This one starts at a good pace and keeps tripping along just as it should. I like it.
