This Thing Called Love 7/10/2019 I fear that love is highly overrated, The theme to almost every poem and song. A thing that once it has been consummated- Tends to fade away before too long. A word that should be strong and all consuming- Established firmly on a bed of trust… I find to be misused, and that quite often- Disguising, what in truth, is merely lust. Be careful how you term those strong emotions. Deceptive words will oft deceive the heart- And leave a person hurt and disillusioned, The plants from which the bitter viewpoints start. And bitterness, unchecked, becomes a poison- Defiling everything it comes to touch. Vindictive and destructive is its nature- A state that one should fear, and very much. A moral? I suppose that there should be one: Never wear your feelings on your sleeve- Be careful of the words you use with strangers- If feelings grow too strong, pack up and leave. |

That is very sad, John, and difficult to do . . . and it seems such a waste of happiness to leave when things are going well . . . even if love dies outwardly, it often lives on in bittersweet (sometimes just sweet) memories of both parties. Endings aren't always bitter, and sometimes endings aren't the end at all. ![]() |

As Waylon Jennings said in one of his songs: "Like those big wheels, I'll keep rolling, Like the rivers run to the sea- I would rather- Leave here knowing, That I made a fool of love, Before it made a fool of me." |
