7 September 2017 Many, many, many rotations of the earth ago there was an ordinary man and an ordinary woman whose spirits met in the blue beyond. They touched each other’s hearts and continued to meet tentatively to begin with, but their times apart lessened with every exhilarating sunrise, one time they met in a sub-tropical forest, another on a granite-topped mountain, another on a western beach in summer sunshine, another in a field of flowers, another on the banks of a stream that gurgled and giggled and laughed as it danced over rocks and pebbles, and soon they met in each other’s homes and later still in each other’s arms for, on a long path of many twists and turns, they had learned more about each other with each caressing sunset as they talked and talked and talked sharing their secret fears and aspirations and they learned to know the bloodbeat of each other’s hearts and the music in their souls would sing in duets in bass and contralto the beauty of their treasured and unfurling love. For each other, they had become extraordinary. One day a storm arose like a mighty hurricane and rent them apart. It glowered and grumbled and raged and rumbled and bellowed and roared and many lives were lost, but the ordinary man and the ordinary woman believed and trusted and prayed that the other would be saved. At last the storm abated and all was still in the ensuing devastation under a relentless sun. The ordinary man and the ordinary woman were drawn inexplicably to their first meeting place in the blue beyond and as they both approached it, each saw the other, yet, they moved still sedately forward knowing that all was well, their hearts aglow as they met and melted into each other’s arms. Is that the end of the story? No, it is the . . . beginning. |
